Wine Enthusiast 91 points - It doesn’t take an expert to quickly realize that this is a fine Cabernet. The nose deals potent black cherry and char, while airing unleashes a subtle perfume and floral notes. In the mouth, there’s ripe berry flavors and chocolate, while late in the game the tannins stay smooth but tight. A congruent wine with no flaws. Ready now or ageable for a couple of years. Score: 91. —Michael Schachner, September 01, 2007.
Wine Spectator 90 points - Rich and polished, with a solid core of blackberry and black currant fruit layered with mocha, sweet spice and briar notes. Shows more purity and freshness, with less toast, than previous vintages. The finish is long and juicy. Drink now through 2008. 16,000 cases made. Score: 90. —James Molesworth, May 31, 2007.
Robert Parker 87 points - The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon “Cuvee Alexandre – Apalata Vineyard” is similarly styled to the Merlot, but with the focus on black currants. It has enough structure to evolve for 2-3 years and should drink well through 2020. Score: 87. —Jay Miller, June 2007.
