We harvested all of the Torrontes grapes from the Tupungato region of Mendoza’s Valle de Uco viticultural area. Located in the Andean foothills, this region’s warm, sunny days and cold nights foster ripe, fruity flavors balanced with high acidity. Recent DNA fingerprinting shows that the floral qualities of Argentina’s Torrontes grape come from its heritage of perfumed Muscat of Alexandria crossed with Criolla Chica. Here in Mendoza’s arid, high-elevation vineyards, Torrontes grapes develop their own distinctive flavor profile. To force the roots deep into the low-fertility, sandy loam soils, the vines are drip irrigated with mineral-rich water melting from the snowpack of the Andes.
Pair the delicate, dry flavors of our Torrentes with lighter fare, including smoked trout appetizers, seafood salads and grilled white fish or chicken breasts.
