Color - Deep ruby
Bouquet - The nose is dense and deep, with aromas of raisins, ripe cherries, wild berries and spice
Taste - The aromas carry through onto the dry, full-bodied and well-structured palate; approachable, with vibrant red fruit flavors, soft, supple tannins and a memorable finish.
Wine Advocate 88 points - The 2002 Amarone Villa Arvedi is a medium-bodied effort redolent of spices, leather, cocoa and red fruits. Made in a somewhat delicate, feminine style it doesn’t appear to be built for the long-haul but it does offer excellent drinking today. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2010. (Oct 2007)
Carefully selected grape bunches are hand-harvested from top vineyards planted in the hills of Valpantena, north of the city of Verona in northeast Italy, in the communes of Quinto, Grezzana, and Santa Maria.
|Wine maker notes
|The best whole, perfectly ripened bunches are hand harvested in early September and carried to farmhouses where they are left to dry on traditional straw mats called arelle, a process which raisins the grapes and concentrates the natural sugars. After approximately 120 days, the grapes are pressed and slow fermentation begins at a low temperature. Fermentation continues until the sugars have been completely converted to alcohol.
80% Corvina Verones and 20% Rondinella
